Raised in a small town in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in South Carolina, Donovan McAbee holds a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and a PhD in creative writing and contemporary poetry from the University of St Andrews. His chapbook Sightings appeared in the Floodgate Poetry Series, and his collection Holy the Body was published by Texas Review Press in 2026. His academic monograph Charles Simic and the Poetics of Uncertainty appeared in 2020. He teaches religion and the arts at Belmont University and held a Tennessee Williams Scholarship at the Sewanee Writers' Conference.
