Born in Punjab, India, Rupi Kaur immigrated to Canada as a child and was raised in Brampton, Ontario. She studied rhetoric and professional writing at the University of Waterloo. Her debut collection, milk and honey, was self-published in 2014 and reissued by Andrews McMeel Publishing in 2015; it sold more than three million copies and spent over a year on the New York Times bestseller list. Her later collections, the sun and her flowers (Andrews McMeel, 2017) and home body (Andrews McMeel, 2020), were also international bestsellers.
