Born in Washington, D.C., Kim Addonizio received her BA and MA from San Francisco State University. She is the author of Tell Me (BOA Editions, 2000), a finalist for the National Book Award, and Mortal Trash (W.W. Norton, 2016), among other collections. She has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts, along with Pushcart Prizes in poetry and the essay. With Dorianne Laux she co-authored the craft book The Poet's Companion (W.W. Norton, 1997). She lives in Oakland, California.
