
About the poet: Gabrielle Calvocoressi
Gabrielle Calvocoressi is an American poet, editor, and associate professor of creative writing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Born in central Connecticut, they hold a BA from Sarah Lawrence College and an MFA from Columbia University. Their four collections include The Last Time I Saw Amelia Earhart (2005), Apocalyptic Swing (2009), Rocket Fantastic (2017) — winner of the Publishing Triangle's Audre Lorde Award for Lesbian Poetry — and The New Economy (Copper Canyon Press, 2025), a National Book Award finalist. Their honors include a Wallace Stegner Fellowship, the Lucille Clifton Legacy Award, and the Paris Review's Bernard F. Conners Prize. In 2026 they were elected a Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets.
