About the poet: Kim Addonizio
Kim Addonizio (born 1954, Washington, D.C.) is an American poet whose frank, sensual, and formally accomplished work explores desire, addiction, mortality, and the redemptive possibilities of everyday life. Her collection Tell Me (BOA Editions, 2000) was a finalist for the National Book Award. She is also the author of Ordinary Genius: A Guide for the Poet Within (W. W. Norton, 2009), one of the most widely used creative writing guides in America. She plays blues harmonica and incorporates music into her literary performances. Her work appears in The New Yorker, Poetry, and other leading journals.
