Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, Alex Dimitrov earned a BA in English and film studies from the University of Michigan and an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College. He is the author of Begging for It (Four Way Books, 2013), Together and by Ourselves (Copper Canyon Press, 2017), and Love and Other Poems (Copper Canyon Press, 2021). He received the Stanley Kunitz Prize from American Poetry Review and a Pushcart Prize. Dimitrov is Senior Content Editor at the Academy of American Poets, where he edits Poem-a-Day and American Poets magazine, and he founded the Wilde Boys queer poetry salon in New York City.
