Awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2016, Bob Dylan is a musician and songwriter. The prize came “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.” He was born Robert Zimmerman in Duluth, Minnesota. He skipped the December ceremony, accepted the medal privately in Stockholm, and delivered the lecture required of laureates as an audio recording in June 2017. Tarantula, an experimental prose work written in 1966, first appeared in 1971; The Lyrics: 1961–2020, which collects his songs with his own revisions, and the abridged 100 Songs both come from Simon & Schuster. He received a Pulitzer Prize Special Citation in 2008 and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2012, and wrote the memoir Chronicles: Volume One.
