Born in Topeka, Kansas, CAConrad is a poet known for developing (Soma)tic Poetry Rituals, structured embodied exercises that generate writing. Their collections include The Book of Frank (Wave Books, 2010), winner of the Gil Ott Book Award; ECODEVIANCE: (Soma)tics for the Future Wilderness (Wave Books, 2014); and While Standing in Line for Death (Wave Books, 2017), which won the Lambda Literary Award for Gay Poetry. Their honors include the Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize and the PEN Josephine Miles Award, plus fellowships from the Lannan Foundation and the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage. They teach at Columbia University and the Sandberg Art Institute in Amsterdam, and live in Greenfield, Massachusetts.
