A Chicano poet born in García de la Cadena, Zacatecas, Mexico, Donato Martinez immigrated to the United States at the age of six. He teaches English and Chicano studies at Santa Ana College. His first full-length collection, Touch the Sky, appeared from El Martillo Press in 2023. He also co-authored the self-published collaborative collection Tacos de Lengua with three other Inland Empire poets. His poems have appeared in City Works, East Side Rose, The Acentos Review, and the San Diego Poetry Annual.
