The poet Edgar Kunz won the 2019 Julia Ward Howe Award for his debut collection, Tap Out (Ecco, 2019), a New York Times New & Noteworthy pick. Born in Framingham, Massachusetts, he earned an MFA from Vanderbilt University and was a Wallace Stegner Fellow at Stanford University. His second collection, Fixer (Ecco, 2023), was a New York Times Editors' Choice. He has received a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship and a MacDowell Fellowship. His poems appear in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, and Poetry. He teaches in the English Department and MFA program at Virginia Commonwealth University.
