A poet from New England, Jessica Purdy holds a BA in English and studio art from the University of New Hampshire and an MFA in creative writing from Emerson College. She is the author of STARLAND (Nixes Mate, 2017) and Sleep in a Strange House (Nixes Mate, 2018), a finalist for the New Hampshire Literary Award for Poetry. Her chapbooks include Learning the Names (Finishing Line Press, 2015), The Adorable Knife (Grey Book Press, 2023), and You're Never the Same (Seven Kitchens Press, 2023). The Adorable Knife won the 2025 New Hampshire Writers' Project People's Choice Award for Poetry. She teaches at Southern New Hampshire University and lives in Exeter, New Hampshire.
