Born in Boston and raised in central New Jersey, Joshua Weiner earned a BA from Northwestern University and an MA and PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. He is the author of three poetry collections from the University of Chicago Press: The World's Room (2001), From the Book of Giants (2006), and The Figure of a Man Being Swallowed by a Fish (2013). With Linda B. Parshall he translated Nelly Sachs's Flight and Metamorphosis (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2022), shortlisted for the 2023 National Translation Award. He has received the Rome Prize, a Whiting Writers' Award, and a Guggenheim Fellowship. He is a professor at the University of Maryland.
