A Cambodian-American writer and artist from Southern California, Maya Cheav is the author of three poetry chapbooks: LYKAIA (Bottlecap Press, 2023), Tan's Donuts (Chestnut Review, 2025), and By-the-Wind-Sailor (2026). She was a top ten finalist for the 2023 Palette Poetry Chapbook Prize, guest judged by Danez Smith, and attended a Tin House Workshop in 2024 under the mentorship of Roy G. Guzmán. Her poems and flash fiction have appeared in Scapegoat Review, Across the Margin, and OnlyPoems. Her work has received a Best Small Fictions nomination, and she served as an AWP Writer-to-Writer poetry mentor.
