Born and raised in San Diego, California, Rudy Francisco is a spoken word poet who completed a BA in psychology at twenty-one before pursuing a master's degree in organizational studies. He self-published the early collections Getting Stitches (2013), Scratch (2014), and No Gravity (2015). His first full-length book, Helium (Button Poetry, 2017), took a year and a half to write and was a finalist for the 2018 Goodreads Choice Award for Best Poetry Book. I'll Fly Away followed. He has performed his poems on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and appeared on TV One's Verses and Flow.
