An English poet, writer, model, and actor born in Chorley, Lancashire, to a Jamaican mother and a Nigerian father, Yrsa Daley-Ward self-published her debut collection, bone, in 2014; Penguin reissued it in 2017 with additional poems. Her memoir in verse, The Terrible (Penguin, 2018), won the 2019 PEN/Ackerley Prize. She followed it with The How: Notes on the Great Work of Meeting Yourself (Penguin, 2021). She co-wrote Beyoncé's 2020 visual album Black Is King and has worked as a model for brands including Nike and Estée Lauder.
