Membership Terms

The memberships

  • Student: $29 a year or $3 a month. 10% off, a birthday coupon, and members-only offers.
  • Plus: $49 a year or $5 a month. Everything in Student, plus a Poetry Shop mug as a welcome gift.
  • Premium: $79 a year or $9 a month. Everything in Plus, with a choice of mug or tote as your welcome gift, and free Economy shipping.

Prices are in US dollars, before tax. One membership per person.

Billing and renewal. Memberships renew automatically each month or year until you cancel. We email you before each renewal. If a renewal payment fails, we try again; if it still can’t be collected, your membership ends.

Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from your account, under Membership. Your benefits continue until the end of the period you have paid for, and then your membership ends. We don’t refund or credit unused time.

Member discount. 10% off books and merchandise when you are signed in to your account. It doesn’t apply to gift cards or memberships.

Free shipping (Premium). Free Economy shipping on US orders, applied at checkout when you are signed in.

Welcome gift (Plus and Premium). Your welcome email has a link to claim your gift. The gift and its shipping are free when it is ordered on its own. Claim it any time while you are a member. There is one welcome gift per customer, including if you rejoin or change membership.

Birthday coupon. Tell us your birthday (month and day) at thepoetryshop.com/pages/birthday and sign up for our emails. On the morning of your birthday we send a 25% off code, good on one order within 60 days. One coupon per member each year. It isn’t valid on gift cards or memberships, and can’t be combined with the member discount.

Gift memberships. A gift membership lasts one year and doesn’t renew. Enter the recipient’s email at checkout. Their membership starts when the order is placed, and they receive our welcome email.

Changes. We may change membership benefits or prices. A price change applies from your next renewal, and we will email you before it does.
