Losses are mourned: two poets elegized here - Charles Simic and the late Donegal poet Matthew Sweeney - might offer a fingerpost of sensibilities, though Browne's significant talent is distinctly his own. About Dean Browne

An Irish poet from County Tipperary, Dean Browne made his full-length debut with After Party (Picador, 2025). Earlier recognition came with the 2020 Geoffrey Dearmer Prize, The Poetry Society's annual award for a poem by a poet without a first collection, and his chapbook Kitchens at Night (Smith|Doorstop, 2022), a winner of The Poetry Business's International Book and Pamphlet Competition. His poems have appeared in Poetry, Poetry Ireland Review, The Stinging Fly, Banshee, and Bath Magg, and three feature in the archive of Poetry magazine. The debut collection was named a Poetry Book Society recommendation. Browne lives in Cork.
