Coming into an Inheritance

An eighth-generation descendant of the founder of Hardin County, Tennessee, Jeff Hardin was born in Savannah, Tennessee. He holds a BS from Austin Peay State University and an MFA from the University of Alabama, and is a professor of English at Columbia State Community College in Columbia, Tennessee. He is the author of seven collections, including Fall Sanctuary (Story Line Press, 2005), winner of the Nicholas Roerich Prize; Restoring the Narrative (2015), winner of the Donald Justice Prize; No Other Kind of World (Texas Review Press, 2017), winner of the X.J. Kennedy Prize; and Watermark (Madville Publishing, 2022). His poems have appeared in The Southern Review, Ploughshares, and The Hudson Review.
