About Jacqueline Woodson

Jacqueline Woodson has received four Newbery Honors. They came for Show Way, Feathers, After Tupac & D Foster and Brown Girl Dreaming. Brown Girl Dreaming, her memoir in verse, won the 2014 National Book Award for Young People's Literature and the 2015 Coretta Scott King Author Award; Locomotion was a National Book Award finalist in 2003 and a Coretta Scott King Author Honor Book the following year. She served as Young People's Poet Laureate from 2015 to 2017 and as National Ambassador for Young People's Literature from 2018 to 2019, and was named a MacArthur Fellow in 2020.
