About Gary Metras

Gary Metras founded Adastra Press and ran it for forty years. He edited and hand-printed limited editions of poetry on a letterpress. Born and raised in Chicopee, Massachusetts, he lives in Easthampton, where he was appointed the city's first poet laureate in April 2018. Two Bloods won the Split Oak Press Chapbook Award in 2010, and White Storm was named a Must Read title in the Massachusetts Book Awards. Vanishing Points came from Dos Madres Press in 2021 and Counting Bricks from the same press in June 2026, with Marble Dust from Cervena Barva Press. He received a Massachusetts Fellowship in Poetry.
