In her third collection of poems, Amy Dryansky zeroes in on our shared "creative project"- the continual making, re-making and unmaking we're engaged in as we reckon with our past, present and future. What do we do with what we're given? How do we respond when what we're given isn't what we want or think we can manage?
Amy Dryansky (she/her) has published two previous poetry collections. Her first, How I Got Lost So Close to Home, won the New England / New York Award from Alice James Books. The second, Grass Whistle (Salmon Poetry) received the Massachusetts Book Award. Individual poems appear in Adroit Journal, Harvard Review, Massachusetts Review, MER, New England Review, Orion, Radar, The Sun, Tin House, Waxwing and other journals, as well as several anthologies. She's a former poet laureate of Northampton, Massachusetts, received the Cecil Hemley Memorial Award from the Poetry Society of America, and two artist fellowships from the Massachusetts Cultural Council. She parents two children, works as a grant writer and occasionally teaches creative writing, most recently as the James Merrill Visiting Poet at Amherst College.

What’s a poetry book that others may not know about but deserves a shout out?
I'm so glad to have been introduced to Amy Dryansky's work through her latest book, Ambergris (Pine Row Press), which explores grief, motherhood, nature, desire, and so much more. I was gripped all the way through. She writes, “I can’t always tell the difference between sad/and sweet; sometimes they taste the same to me. It’s a confusion/to which I’m prone, an allegiance, I won’t say religion, but/it could be the only way I know how to pray.”
