This collection of 101 modern haiku is for you to enjoy and to share with children or students. These haiku (used for singular and plural) were not written specifically for children, but will resonate with young people ages 8 and up. The majority were previously published, individually, in the haiku journals Blithe Spirit, Presence, The Heron's Nest, Autumn Moon Haiku Journal, Frogpond, Under the Basho, Tinywords, Cattails, Modern Haiku, and Acorn, among others.
Gathered for the first time, the haiku in this single-author collection embody many of the desired qualities of literary haiku. They exemplify the current best practices used by published haiku poets. For newcomers and old pros, this collection is for enjoyment, learning, and teaching.
