About Tiana Clark

Holder of an MFA from Vanderbilt University and a BA in Africana and women's studies from Tennessee State University, Tiana Clark is a poet and essayist. Her collection I Can't Talk About the Trees Without the Blood (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2018) won the 2017 Agnes Lynch Starrett Prize, and the chapbook Equilibrium (Bull City Press, 2016) took the 2016 Frost Place Chapbook Competition. Honors include the 2020 Kate Tufts Discovery Award, a 2019 National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellowship, and the 2021–2022 Amy Lowell Poetry Traveling Scholarship. Her collection Scorched Earth (Washington Square Press, 2025) was a finalist for the National Book Award for Poetry.
