About Debbie Hall

A former psychologist and a photographer, Debbie Hall completed an MFA at Pacific University in 2017. She lives in Escondido, California. Her first collection, What Light I Have, came from Main Street Rag and was a finalist for the 2019 San Diego Book Award in published poetry. Three books have followed from The Poetry Box: the chapbook Falling into the River, placed third in that press's 2019 Chapbook Prize; In the Jaguar's House, animal poems for children set against her own photographs; and Mixtape: Marginal States in December 2025. She took second place in the 2018 Poetry Super Highway contest, and her essays have appeared on NPR's This I Believe.
