It Festers Electric

There is an undeniable ache to girlhood. The blood, the hyperawareness of the body, the nostalgia, and the grief handed down from mother to daughter like a family heirloom. All of this is sharpened by the fear and anger of moving through the world in the female form, and the inherent promise of violence that comes with it. These poems give voice to that ache. They reckon with the ghosts, wounds, and stories carried in the marrow of our bones, while also making room for all that survives alongside them: the magic of girlhood in all its tenderness, whimsy, beauty, and joy.
