About Heid E. Erdrich

A member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Ojibwe, Heid E. Erdrich was born in Breckenridge, Minnesota, and raised in Wahpeton, North Dakota. She earned a BA from Dartmouth College and two MA degrees from the Johns Hopkins Writing Seminars. Little Big Bully (Penguin Books, 2020) won a National Poetry Series award and the 2022 Rebekah Johnson Bobbitt National Prize for Poetry from the Library of Congress. Earlier collections include Fishing for Myth (1997) and National Monuments (2008), a Minnesota Book Award winner. She edited New Poets of Native Nations (Graywolf Press) and was named the inaugural Poet Laureate of Minneapolis in 2023.
