changing the water
to liquid sweet

About Rumi

Rumi (1207–1273) was a Persian poet and Sufi mystic. He was born at Balkh, in what is now Afghanistan, and died at Konya, in present-day Turkey, where his tomb became a museum. His father, the scholar and theologian Baha' al-Din-e Valad, was called in 1229 to teach in the Seljuk capital, and Rumi eventually took over the post. Meeting Shams al-Din Tabrizi in 1244 remade his work: after Shams disappeared in 1248 he composed the Divan-e Shams-e Tabrizi, more than forty thousand verses, and dictated the 64,000 lines of the Masnavi-ye Ma'navi to the scribe Husam Chelebi. The books offered here are modern English translations.
