About Selima Hill

Winner of the 2022 King's Gold Medal for Poetry, British poet Selima Hill published her first collection, Saying Hello at the Station, in 1984 and has issued more than a dozen books with Bloodaxe. Bunny (2001) won the Whitbread Poetry Award, and Violet (1997) was shortlisted for the Forward Prize, the T. S. Eliot Prize, and the Whitbread. The retrospective Gloria: Selected Poems appeared from Bloodaxe in 2008, and Men Who Feed Pigeons (2021) was shortlisted for the Forward Prize, the T. S. Eliot Prize, and the Rathbones Folio Prize. She received a Cholmondeley Award in 1986. A Man, a Woman & a Hippopotamus followed from Bloodaxe in 2025.
