Posada: Offerings of Witness and Refuge

A Chicana poet born in San Gabriel, California, to Mexican immigrant parents, Xochitl-Julisa Bermejo holds a BA in theatre arts from California State University, Long Beach, and an MFA in creative writing from Antioch University Los Angeles. Her debut collection is Posada: Offerings of Witness and Refuge (Sundress Publications, 2016), and her second is Incantation: Love Poems for Battle Sites (Mouthfeel Press, 2023). She volunteered with the humanitarian organization No More Deaths at the Arizona-Mexico border. A former Steinbeck Fellow, she co-founded and directs Women Who Submit, and in 2017 was the first Poet in the Parks resident at Gettysburg National Military Park, in partnership with the Poetry Foundation.
