About Michele Evans

A fifth-generation Washingtonian, Michele Evans is the author of the poetry collection purl (Finishing Line Press, 2025), nominated for the Maya Angelou Book Award, and the chapbook februaries (Yellow Arrow Publishing, 2026). She studied English language and literature at Smith College, King's College London, and the University of Maryland. An English and creative writing teacher, she advises the high-school literary magazine Unbound and consults for the Northern Virginia Writing Project. Her poems have appeared in the Bellevue Literary Review, Gargoyle Magazine, and Sky Island Journal, among other journals. She has won the ASP Bulletin Poetry Prize and is a Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net nominee. She lives in Virginia.
