About Annette Sisson

A Victorian scholar by training, Annette Sisson earned her MA and PhD at Indiana University. She completed a dissertation on George Eliot in 1989 and spent her career in the English department at Belmont University, where she directed the Master of Arts in English program from 2010 to 2015. Her chapbook A Casting Off came from Finishing Line Press in 2019, the year her poem “Fog” won The Porch Writers' Collective's Poetry Prize. Small Fish in High Branches (Glass Lyre Press, 2022) was her first full-length collection; Winter Sharp with Apples followed from Terrapin Books in 2024. She was named a BOAAT Writing Fellow in 2020 and a Mark Strand Scholar at the 2021 Sewanee Writers' Conference. She lives in Nashville.
