About ire'ne lara silva

A former Cantomundo fellow inducted into the Texas Institute of Letters in 2020, ire'ne lara silva also holds that organization's Shrake Award for short nonfiction. Named Texas Poet Laureate in 2023, she is the author of five poetry collections, including Blood Sugar Canto, Cuicacalli//House of Song, and the eaters of flowers, winner of the Gold Medal Juan Felipe Herrera Best Poetry Book Award from the International Latino Book Awards. Her debut collection, furia, appeared from Mouthfeel Press in 2010; her short story collection flesh to bone, published by Aunt Lute Books in 2013, received the Premio Aztlán. She co-edited the anthology IMANIMAN: Poets Writing on the Anzalduan Borderlands and serves as writer-at-large for Texas Highways magazine.
